Semblance is an android application to help users maintain personal libraries. The setup will be similar to how bookstores or libraries manage their merchandise. Each time a purchase is made, the user can scan the barcode and the book will be registered. The books, along with other relevant information will be stored into a database.

Key Features

• The barcodes of books can be scanned in, or the isbn can be entered and the application will get download all the desired information about the book.

• The books can be sorted by ispn, genre, name, author name, language, country, price ect. There can be multiple levels of sorting.

• There can be multiple levels of accounts. Eg. There can be a family account with books for all the members of a household. For this account, there can be sub accounts for each family member.

• The application will make recommendations on how to store the books (shelves). It will then help a user find a specified book.

• The application will connect to googlebooks and other such websites, and make recommendations for the user based on their preferences. These will include favorite authors, genres ect.

• The application will keep track of the books that the user(s) have already read, the books that they haven't read, as well as to "to read" list. Different members on the same account can recommend books to each other.

• The application will keep track of books that other people have borrowed from the user, as well as books that the user has borrowed, ect.

• The application will store information about the users favorite authors and bookstores.

Scope for this semester:
