COSI – OSI

The main project I am working on this semester is an open source education project nicknamed "COSI-OSI" (Clarkson Open Source Institute - Open Source Initiative). Ryan Kornheisl, Keegan Lowenstein, and I are working with Todd Deshane as an adviser to plan workshops teaching about open source software and linux.

The immediate goal of the project is to plan a series of workshops to be held at the begining of the fall 2007 semester. These workshops will explain what open source software is and show how some common programs are used.

Our long terms ideas include more workshops delving into greater detail, workshops targeting specific groups here at Clarkson (possibly including workshops targeting specific majors or faculty), and workshops targeting audiences outside Clarkson (possibly including business owners, high school students, etc.)

Storage Management

Cyrus Katrak recruited Keegan Lowenstein and me to assist with and learn about the RAID storage system. Our goals include implementing and documenting a sustainable, long-term storage solution.
