My Goals - 1st Half of Semester
My main project will be
to create a graphical encryption program. It should be an easy to use
block cipher (private key/symmetric key) program. I want to have
working code for this including a choice of encryption modes,
algorithms, and password/random key generation. This will be the bulk
of the project because it still needs to be easy to use while
remaining capable of decrypting anything advanced that it needs to.
For now I will work with AES, DES, Triple DES (encryption, decryption,
encryption mode) for any size key they need to take. More algorithms
should come in the second half of the year once things are working
properly.
My Goals - 2st Half of Semester
I will write documentation on an overview of encryption and use of my program. Hopefully I can do a tutorial on
encryption using this program. I want to expand the algorithms to
less "standard" ones that are still pretty common and add password-based encryption. Currently, my main goal will be
to get the cluster into a usable condition, something teachers could use easily. This means I will write a queuing system
that makes it very easy to upload a program and put it in the queue. The other things that need to be done are writing
something that can autogenerate a hostfile (naming off the computers that will be used in the cluster). This doesn't have
to be dynamic, but we do need a way to indicate which computers will be used.
