Sitaraman Krishnan

Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Clarkson University

Dr. Krishnan is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Clarkson University. He joined Clarkson University in 2007 after completing Postdoctoral Research in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Cornell University. His doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering is from Lehigh University.

His research interests are in materials science of complex fluids and solids, primarily polymeric materials: their synthesis, structure–property correlations, blends and composites, and molecular modeling. Recent research projects in his group include:

  • Biodegradable polymer composites

  • Photoanodes for solar desalination of water

  • Biocoagulants for algal flocculation in control of harmful algal blooms

  • Transport properties of ionic liquids and polymer electrolytes for energy conversion and storage

  • Responsive polysaccharide microparticles for controlled release

  • Nanocomposite coatings and elastomers for high-temperature high-pressure applications

  • Latex-based slurries for chemical mechanical planarization
