Director

Chen Liu

Dr. Liu currently is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York.

He received his B. E. in Electronics and Information Engineering in 2000 from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC),  M. S. in Electrical Engineering in 2002 from University of California, Riverside (UCR), and Ph. D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2008 from University of California, Irvine (UCI), respectively. From 2008 to 2012, Dr. Liu was an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Florida International University (FIU).
 
Dr. Liu's research interests include: multi-/many-core architecture, multi-threading architecture, the interaction between system software and microarchitecture, power-aware computing, hardware acceleration techniques, and virtual machine management.

Dr. Liu is a member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, ACM, ACM SIGARCH, ACM SIGMICRO, and ASEE.

Graduate Students

Gildo Torres (Ph.D. student)

Gildo torres received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in July 2006, from the Polytechnic University of Havana, Cuba. He received his M.S. degree in Computer Engineering in May 2012, from Florida International University. He is interested in many-core architecture and virtual machine management.

Boyang Li (M.S. student)

Boyang Li received his B.E. degree in Electronic Information Engineering in July 2010, from Tianjin University. He is interested in computer architecture, graphic processing unit and FPGA.

Xuan Qi (Ph.D. student)

Xuan Qi received his B.E. degree in Information Engineering in July 2011, from China University of Mining & Technology. He received his M.E. degree in Information Engineering in April 2014, from Harbin Engineering University. He is interested in computer architecture, GPU computing, Parallel computing and FPGA..

Zhiliu Yang (Ph.D. student)

 

Zhiliu Yang received his B.E. degree in Communication Engineering in July 2013 from Yunnan University, and M.S. degree in Information and Communication Engineering in April 2016 from Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). He is interested in Computer Architecture, Digital Image/Video Process Implementation, Artificial Intelligence Hardware Acceleration..

 

Tim Platt (Off-site Ph.D. student)

 

Tim received his B.S. degree with honors in Electrical Engineering from Penn State in 1984. He received his M.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Walden/NTU in 2012. He is interested in Computer Architecture, Machine Learning, Image Processing, and FPGA.

Undergraduate Students

 

James Bruska


James Bruska is an undergraduate student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science departments at Clarkson University. He expects to receive his B.S. degree with Honors in Computer Engineering and Computer Science in the May of 2018. He is interested in multi-core computation, its implementation within mobile platforms, and computer security.
