This is my MP451 page. Welcome!
Library/ is a large scale project to organize the COSI books and allow students to take them out. The system will keep track of the books currently in and out of the labs.
We currently have a full backend running in Java using a Cypher database and a fully fledged authentication system that makes sure the user is allowed to do the action they tried to do. The database fully supports adding books with titles, authors, ISBNs, descriptions, and conditions. A search feature is also already implemented to find books in the system.
We also now have added the following functionalities in both the front end and the back end:
Most of the work went in to making our system behave properly with the permissions that the users have, and being both functional and logical in use. We made sure that deleting anything from the database can't be done accidentally, and we made adding things clear and straightforward. Navigation is extremely fast and lightweight, as it's done mostly in CSS.
I wrote a Python script to play music in Guild Wars 2 (an MMO) from a MIDI file. It uses a library from MIT called Music 21 to get all the information about the file. This includes all of the instruments (tracks), tempo, key, and time signature as well as every single note from each track. From there, I manually decipher which track has the main piece of music I want to be able to play and separate out only those notes. Then, I have to transpose that track to the key of C Major, as that is the key the in-game instrument is in. To do that, I need to remove notes until it fits into a key, and then replace each note in the key of the song with the corresponding note in C Major. Finally, I generate an AutoHotkey script that presses the correct key and sleeps based on the type of note being played and the tempo of the song.
