Infrastructure Overseen

Name Status Description
Network Switches Handed off to Network Maintainers, as overseen by dunbarj. At the beginning of Fall 2015, I proposed the purchase of four TP-LINK 24-port 1G managed switches, to replace existing ailing infrastructure, provide fertile ground for learning about managed switches, and to demonstrate the purchase process to the then-freshmen. The switches features have since been exploited successfully in many useful instances, and are now actively overseen by a few interested hardware maintainers.
ITL Windows Build Bequeathed to dunbarj and newmanre. The ITL Windows Build is the Windows installation used in the ITL for academic purposes. It generally follows in lockstep with the standard Clarkson OIT "lab image", but the CS Labs oversee all software installations, management and troubleshooting. In general, someone with an OIT student staff account is needed to access OIT's software shares for installing academic software licensed to the university; prior to me, this was Alex Hurd; contemporaneous with me, it remains fultonms; succeeding me appears to be dunbarj. Administration other than software installation (such as imaging, updates, and maintenance) may be overseen by anyone with an interest, and various attempts are so made.
Ziltoid Given to the Network Maintainers. Ziltoid is the dedicated firewall, a small machine with minimal configuration designed to forward filtered traffic between two switched networks. Originally a project began in the Summer of 2015 by Corey (who is credited with the name), it took several months for a configuration to be realized, and another couple months of debate to determine the nature of its configuration. It primarily filters inbound TCP connections to most machines in the lab, but (for reliability purposes) the ITL is outside of it, depending instead on host-based firewalls.
