Lab Director Duties

Spring 2016 is my first full semester as a Lab Director, and I have performed my duties to the best of my ability and knowledge, including: sending out weekly and announcment emails, leading and participating in weekly meetings, mediating diiscussion forrums, conflict resolution and crisis management. I have also spent time cleaning and promoting the labs, as well as encouraging development of interesting projects.

I have also dealt with COSI PR, including running the Accepted Students Day, handling Mirror Contributer PR, and dealing with internal issues.

Lightning Talks and Aftermeeting Talks

I have given many lightning talks already this semester, and will continue to do so. I have also given one talk in the aftermeeting slot, and may give another.

I coordinated the acquisition and setup of the three robots COSI now is steward of. I have also taken charge of managing these robots (in the sense of keeping track of them). Listed below are the projects I have overseen (but not contributed to), and my to-do list for the end of the semester.

Current Projects Overseen

  • MATLAB Robotics -- Sam Heater and Tim Dunn

Post Semester Checklist

  • Configure Husky for use.
  • Re-image TurtleBots
  • Write Up Docs Page
  • Update to ROS Kinetic Kame if suppprted

Leap Motion

I brought up the idea of purchasing a Leapo Motion for the labs. We did so, and I have a few planned projects using the Leap.

Over The Summer

Over the summer, I will be developing a Machine Learning class for the Fall, and developing a series of workshops targeted at freshmen.
