MP451: COSIApp

Update: 12-03-20

To get started with Android development, I used a guide found here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html.

I used Eclipse with the Android development plug in, aiming at Android 2.3. Aiming for older versions of Android is nice because you support moredevices, but this comes at the expense of less features.

Android development is a tricky combination of Java code backend with XML driven layout design. The Eclipse plugin helps with this by providing a what-you-see-is-what-you-get layout editor that is incredibly flexible and helpful.

The "Activity" class is the driving force in Android: The app opens to a default activity, and every new "window" is a new activity. Activities can contain other activities, which is how the list view in this app will probably be presented: A main activity conting a list view activity and a vertical layout activity for the buttons.
