COSI Documentation

I have been working on Docs again this semester. Some improvements that have been made are:

Aside for those major changes, I am always updating existing articles.

Zach Shepherd and I also gave two presentations on the MediaWiki software. One to aid users and another to aid in setting up a server.

Director

This semester Zach and I were the directors of COSI for the first time together.

Zach and I have started to take meeting minutes and are available on Docs. We are also using a meeting agenda to make them go much smoother.

I add my thoughts into conversations and try to share my knowledge with others...

LaTeX

I have started to use and learn LaTeX for a lot of my school papers and projects. It is being used to write the meeting minutes in.

One of the most interesting things that I have learned how to do in it is create a watermark on every page of your document. This is especially useful for drafting our meeting minutes. To watermark a document, insert the following code into its preamble:

% Watermark packages
\usepackage{graphicx}
\usepackage{type1cm}
\usepackage{eso-pic}
\usepackage{color}

% Watermark
\makeatletter
\AddToShipoutPicture{
  \setlength{\@tempdimb}{.5\paperwidth}
  \setlength{\@tempdimc}{.5\paperheight}
  \setlength{\unitlength}{1pt}
  \put(\strip@pt\@tempdimb,\strip@pt\@tempdimc){
    \makebox(0,0){
      \rotatebox{45}{
        \textcolor[gray]{0.75}{
          \fontsize{7cm}{7cm}\selectfont{COSI}
        }
      }
    }
  }
}
\makeatother

DTD

I have also started to learn how to write Document Type Definitons.

My first experience with it was writing the XML DTD for the Digital Lifelines timeline XML.
