Spring 2007
Goals this semester:
- Get the lab HVAC situation straightened out
- General work in the server room
- Storage and backup plan work
- Help hook up the Unisys server
Notes:
- Maintained frequent contact with the campus environmental system specialist conerning the lab and server room temperatures, and discussed work to be done to mostly separate the environment of the server room from that of the labs
- Contacted APC and Belkin regarding reduced pricing or donations on UPS equipment, and received initial responses from both companies - was asked by APC to followup around early June
- Worked on a proposition for the storage/backup plans
- Helped hook up and bring equipment online
- Performed basic janitorial duties
- Helped with open houses
- Inspected the Unisys server and examined power requirements
- Stole Jeremy's potato
- Evaluated power situation in the labs
- Helped people with personal problems
- Started an open source Emergency Services management software project - currently in development stage with K2CC Amateur Radio's Emergency Response Team
- Helped run meetings
Presentation:
- Gave a presentation on social engineering (the history, psychological vulnerabilities, common techniques, ways of securing organizations).
