This is my first year working with COSI labs. I was taking EE363 – Software Components and Generic Programming and my professor Tim Fanelli recommended I attend the meetings after I showed an interest in Linux. I was able to go to the next Wednesday meeting and I found the lab to be amazing. The way the lightning talks and student workshops were set up were such great ideas and the fact that the lab was pretty much entirely student run made me all the more interested to join.
I have attended most of the meetings, and through that I learned that there are tons of things I never knew existed or how to properly use. I feel that there is a never ending amount of stuff that the other people of COSI know that I am really looking forward to learning about in future lightning talks.
I was attending Eric's workshop on Virtual Machines at the beginning of the semester, which unfortunately got delayed for a very long time and eventually shifted to someone else and was set at a time that I could not make.
I attended a couple of the corporate talks including the one for dealer.com which was something I was not expecting to experience at COSI but was an awesome moment to hear the people who used to be students at this school and how far they have come since they graduated.
I am hoping to be a part of more workshops next semester. This one has been a little hectic but hopefully in the spring my schedual will be a little more free.
I also hope to try my hand at doing a lightning talk next semester.
