I am a senior computer science student and one of two codirectors of COSI. I am planning on returning in either the fall of 2007 or spring of 2008 to start working on a master's degree.
Goals
My goals for this semester are to give some presentations to younger students, direct events in the lab, keep the lab in working order, learn a lot more about xen virtualization, and learn about anything else that interests me.
Overview
I have:
- Spent many hours wiring network cables to computers, putting chairs together, getting rid of old equipment, organizing furniture and computers, and making sure the lab machines and cluster were usable.
- Given a humorous presentation with Ryan Lewis of our internship experience in Poughkeepsie.
- Given an overview and coneptual presentation with Todd about Xen virtualization. Thanks to Sean Dague for writing the powerpoint presentation.
- Participated in open houses.
- Helped people with equipment or advice for projects they are interested in.
- Helped maintain the COSI webpage, and, to a lesser extent, the lab build.
- Written a "wargames" shell as an easter egg for the lab bulid. :-b This involved minor hacking of the agetty program and eventually the login program.
- Done a bunch of other small stuff.
