I spent this semester on many different projects. The first of which was the GNOME Media Manager project. It began as an idea for a unified infastructure for media player management - that is, for mp3 players. Mike McCabe, Zach Colagan, Jeremy Bongio and I spent several meetings architecting the idea out. Unfortunately we kept changing our minds on the way in which we wanted to code it, and by the time we had settled on a method we were busy with the semester. We never put "code on paper", as it were.
I also spent this semester rebuilding the mirror. Unfortunately, one of our RAID hard drives died, taking out the majority of our space. The downtime gave me the opportunity to reorganize the server to improve modularity for future outages. Now, if one RAID units dies it will not effect the overall mirror operation. Our units are all generally aging very quickly and we have been experiences random drive errors, but no major issues lately. With this semester I've also added a mirror for Ubuntu, Ubuntu Release CDs, and portions of the Eclipse project. I also added a directory for COSI members to have space. Steve Evanchik requested space for some of his kernel patches (though he has never used it). The opportunity is still available for the rest of COSI, however.
This semester I finally developed an "offical" COSI pitch that I put to presentation slides and have up online here. This past Open House I was able to give the pitch about 8 times due to scheduling problems, and I didn't recieve any negative feedback outside of a few visual tweaks.
Here are a few of the other minor things I've done over the semester:
