When I first came to college I didn't know anything about Linux,
besides that it was another operating system. My goal this semester was
to learn linux well enough so that I could use applications, explore
without getting lost, and basically just get comfortable with it. I
learned what the usual directory names might contain, like bin, etc.,
and all those. I also tried fixing some programs. The CUPS server
wasn't working properly, but with the help of a couple other people I
made an attempt to fix it. I wasn't successful but maybe next year I
could make another attempt at that. There was also a problem with how
the printer alligned the columns. The right side of the column was cut
off on every print out. So another person and I fixed it by editing the
a2ps config file. I am planning on learning how to scipt next semester
and experiement a bit with that. I'd also like to put linux on my
personal machine so as to get even more comfortable with it.
